play dough for kids

my daughter just ate half of a playdough can last week, so first thing i did was checking the labe and pheew!!! it was tagged as not toxic, however second thing i did was to call the paediatrician office asking him if i was suppoused to take my little one to have a check, everything was fine so i started to make a "how to make playdough at home" i found lots of ways to do that, but im not very good at cooking, so i called my home visitor and asked her to help me out, she came in, and i found it was really simple so now here it goes...

ingredients:

2 cups of plain flour, 2 cups of water, 1 cup salt, 2 tbsp of cooking oil, and food coloring, i got them from the supermarket, they come in a little box and found them at the bakery department

steps:
  1. mix the dry ingredients together in a pot or container, i used one of my tupperware containers,
  2. add food coloring to the water put in sauce pan.
  3. add ingredients slowly to a pan of water and put over medium heat.
  4. stir constantly until the dough feels like stiff, smooth, mashed potatoes. at this point, take it off the stove. once it has cooled, knead it until it is blended smoothly.
  5. store the dough in an airtight container, like a ziploc bag or you could also use old play dough containers that you don't use any more, or jellow containers, they come with a lid and you can find them very cheap at the dollar store, they usually come in a four set.
my home visitor told me that if didnt have food coloring, i might use koolaid because it adds color and it makes the dough to smell good.

so i know you can always find tons of ways to do this over the internet, but i thought it was going to be nice blogging how i did the first time my daughter had home playdough. thanx to may home visitor and ill post some pics later...
